The FEVO Sport Industry Awards 2023 Celebrated the Finest Work in Sports
The FEVO Sport Industry Awards 2023 were held Thursday, April 27th, and celebrated the immense work done around the sporting industry. The evening saw 18 prestigious awards up for grabs, showcasing and saluting the sector's biggest accomplishments.
More than 1,600 sporting stars and industry executives attended the event, which was hosted by sports presenter Laura Woods and TV personality Mark Durden-Smith.
The highlights of the evening included the presentation of the Outstanding Contribution to Sport Award to former Tottenham Hotspur and Real Madrid star Gareth Bale. The Welshman, who announced his retirement from professional football in January, won five Champions League trophies and three La Liga titles with Madrid, in addition to leading Wales to a third-place finish at the 2016 European Championship — their first major tournament since 1958. He also captained Wales at the 2020 European Championship and 2022 World Cup and retires as the country’s all-time leading goalscorer.
In his acceptance speech, Bale said, "I'm honored to receive this award. I've been lucky enough to have had a long and successful career in football, and I've been fortunate to play alongside some of the best players in the world. I'd like to thank my family, friends, and coaches for all their support over the years."
Other winners included:
Outstanding Contribution to Sport: Gareth Bale
Lifetime Achievement Award: Baroness Sue Campbell
Integrity & Impact Award in association with InsightX: John Amaechi Obe
Active & Wellbeing Award: Sport England
Agency of the Year: M&C Saatchi Sport & Entertainment
The FEVO Sport Industry Awards are one of the most important events in the annual UK sporting calendar, providing a platform to recognize outstanding achievements at every level of sport, from the stars who alight on the world’s biggest stages to the behind-the-scenes work that makes the mere existence of those stages possible. The awards also draw attention to important charitable initiatives and encourage more businesses to invest in the sector.
We are grateful to have been involved and look forward to partnering on the next ceremony in 2024.
